For example: make sure you can work from home for an afternoon; buy flowers for the house every Friday; let go of your high demands and view yourself with more compassion; make your skills available to a cultural institution or non-profit organization for a few hours a week.

  1. Thank you for these great tips. For those with desk jobs or those working within a small company can benefit from these greatly. All of these tips should also be front and center, with some modifications, to those who are self employed no matter how large or small the company.

    I would like to add that there are some companies that have work rules that will prevent you from utilizes some of these tips. For example, those who provide transportation services for the state who are required to be on the go non-stop. Tip 3 may not seem like an option because you cannot take breaks.

    For things like this I would modify it. I have personally dealt with this myself and though taking an actual break is not possible, taking mini-breaks is. There is a breathing exercise, the 4-7-8 breathing technique, that can be done within one minute. This really does work and can physically and mentally give you a break.

    All of these tips are adaptable in some way. What I have taken away from this post is that we should incorporate them when relevant. Balance is key, and knowing how to balance work and home life best plus the things you can do to help, is a great way to promote productivity and ease of mind.

    • Just quitting or running away is almost never the right approach. I would try the right the wrongs first and only after given that my best, but without result, I would make serious considerations. Even quitting!
